The SoleMate is a great tool to support whole body health. We use the 1/2 rolled pieces for foot and ankle rehab, balance retraining, hip strengthening tools and even for playful core and upper limb exercises. The cork foam roller is especially useful for getting in tight areas, and the toe bands are great to help retrain joint position and muscle activation of the feet. This is a favourite of a lot of our clients as its small, able to be taken away on holidays, and its FUN!
I have suffered from plantar facisciitis since I broke and tore ligaments in both of my ankles 10 years ago. After doing a 3 hour shift, I would be in agony with my feet burning and pain, so much pain that I couldn’t walk. I was living on pain killers. I purchased a Solemate, hacky, cork ball and toe stretchers and when they arrived I did the recommended exercises and then went to work. When I returned home my feet felt tender and mildly achy but I didn’t need pain killers, I could walk without pain…talk about amazing. I thought it would take months but it only took once to see some improvement. Now I prioritise my “feet training” several times a week and am looking forward to moving to barefoot shoes. And the exercises are structured so that even being completely unfit, inflexible, overweight and unwell with an autoimmune disease that affects my ligaments, tendons, joints and veins, I can do the exercises; I can now get almost into a deep squat with my heels perched on the solemate! I have such a long way to go but because I am experiencing all these little successes and it is fun and I can feel my whole body getting a workout while I’m flailing around and trying to balance on the Solemate, I look forward to my little therapy sessions which means I do them. I can’t recommend this enough; it really is amazing.
This is an incredibly useful device for foot strengthening and rehab. Both novices and experts can benefit and results can be seen after even a few days of training. A must have!
